TOPIC: 1959 Arkansas Traveler

Good morning
Finally got the new boat in the shop,its been raining all night
and my yard is all mud.It almost never rains in the desert but when it does,stay on the pavement or concrete.
Gutted all the floors and styro and found all rivots and fasteners
to there and in great shape.I think I removed 200 lbs of plywood
and junk.
Going to get new plywood cut and glassed but need more funds before
a trip to the Home Depot.For now I will ask how to go about removing
all the scratches and tarnish to make this girl shining like a mirror.I been using a product called Mothers aluminum polish and it
works great on the layers of tarnish but the scratches and scuffs
show up really good.I am looking for some kind of polish with a grit
or compound that will remove or flatten some of scratches and still
look like a mirror.Thanks for any help and direction

Well, anything deeper than a scratch will require re-working the aluminum. Gouges and dents can be 'worked out' with dolly & hammer techniques. Additional aluminum can be welded in, well, its not really welded, or braized in, but shadow lines will never go completely away from those types of repairs.

I'm no expert, but I have had great results on cleaning and polishing aluminum with Busch products. www.buschshineproducts.com/

Check out 'Cyclo Polishers' in google... fabulous tool. Not a cheap solution though.
