TOPIC: Help ID'ing Alm Boat

Help ID'ing Alm Boat 14 years 1 month ago #18715

I purchased this boat with a BOS only. I originally bought it for parts, but the more I look at it, the more I like it.
I need to determine manufacturer and year before I go to the DMV.

It's a 13 foot aluminum with a f/g bow cover.
Only tag on transom is one by the Outboard Boating Club stating the a capacity of 935lbs for people and a motor cap of 40hp max.

The boat looks to have been repainted many years ago, looks to be badging had been removed and hole filled with pop rivets prior to paint.

Interesting characteristic of the nose cap, the bow is very round at the top.

Any info will be greatly appreciated.
I have searched all the catalogs for alm boats on fiberglassics.

Hmm... thats interesting. I remember reading somewhere about someone using aluminum hulls with glass decks. I will see if I can find the book.

F.F.B. : I do like the style of the front deck & Siren. Nice small windshield . . If you are in Calif, I heard state can be tough on old paperwork , making people pay all the back yearly registrations.(?) Let us know what you find out. Seems bigger than 13 ft in the pics. . Maybe dont tell them old reg #, just say rowboat.

Some larger photos might help- can't see too many details at that size.

We are in the process of organizing the Classic Boat Library by tagging the boat manufacturers pages with category links (Brand by State, Brand by Construction). There is a category for fiberglass decks and aluminum hulls:

Although similiar, not quite the same.
Mine has a much more rounded nose cap and the f/g on the bow is different.

Also of note, my hull is made of 2 halfs with a seem down the center

Man thats close but not it. My boat measures 13'8"
So it cant be a 15' Rambler
Also the leading edge of the bow is shaped differently

I am thinking a AT DUT-14(Vagabond)
However I can not find any pics good pics of the bow on that model

all the bows in 1960 had the triangle form in the front.

I have narrowed it down.
I am sure that it is an Arkansa Traveler, model DUT-14

Possibly '59, '60, or '61
I cant find any good pics of '59 but if you say they didnt go to the V until '1960 then that arrows it more. However the glass models in '59 had the V.

I can rule out '62 becuase they made it 3 inches longer that year.

I hope it's a '59 and that the '58 'rude is original
