HI, I usuly hang out with the fiber guys But I do own a few aluminum boats. This thursday night I went to the local auction out in a small town here in central Indiana, I find some interesting things here from time to time and this thursday night was no exception. This guy wanted to retire on this sale but around 10:30 pm I was driving home with this. maybe some one could tell me somthing about it? its an eletric start 18? johnson and an AlumaCraft 14' gator trailer?

Almost looks like the benches are floating with the inside of the boat blending into the grass; sorry i've no actual useful input. I like the johnson seahorse though.

Looks like an FD with the optional wheel deck. Very nice boat. The model and serial number should be stamped into the transom knee. If you call Alumacraft they can give you the year it was built.

Definately an FD. Those were rated for anywhere from 25hp - 40hp depending on the year. I'd say that one is late fifties or real early sixties. The actual model (FD) and serial number will be stamped in the brace under the Aquaduct transom. Call Alumacraft and they will verify the year. Great find; love the side steering decks on those!

I ck'd and it does say FD and I think 5462, Its in very nice shape and not to many extra holes-dents etc. The carpet has to go......Ive used several things so far and paint stripper and a wooden scraper is the best I have for now. I put on a 1968 18 evinrude that I know runs very nice and did the new numbers and with a heat gun removed the crappy bass and other stickers, I left on the 1972 launch permit. I cant wait to take it for a ride!!!

Well I fianaly got her wet!! gee its been almost a year.But the good news is after restringing the steering and a quick ck of the motor I got it to the river. I love this boat!!!! The 18 is perfect for this place ....not too fast or slow, and at wide open throttle you can turn as sharp as ya want and it turns on a dime, Steering is velvet smooth and only a lil bit of water after 2 hrs. I went alone so no action shots but I did get this.

Sorry to drag up an 11 year old post, but I bought this boat last year. I found this post while trying to figure out the year of it. Such a small world. The boat has lived in Canada for 9 years in storage. This year it should finally see the water again.
