TOPIC: McKenzie Boat Manufacturing Company

McKenzie Boat Manufacturing Company 14 years 5 months ago #11438

Some befor and after photos of a McKenzien Boat Mfg. Co. boat that I cleaned up a bit. Put in a new windshield and the red oak on the inside of the gunwales. New floor, new seats, total repaint and that kind of stuff. Anybody know anything about these boats?

Nice work. Did you have to deal with any leaks? If so, how?

Looks a bit like my '72 Smoker Craft. Windsheild is very similar to mine.

Some slighly leaking rivets, not a big issue. Isn't that what bilge pumps are for? What's the use of having an old boat if it doesn't leak.

The original windshield was a "Water Bonnet" but was split in two. Managed to find a shop in Detroit that fabricated an new windshield to fit the existing frame.

You may want to try coating the rivets and seams on the interior side of the boat with a polyurethane bedliner like Durabak . I applied it on mine with good results.
