All the siding is up, and a good portion of the trim done-

A bit more trim work to go, and then it's DONE. Should be tomorrow!

The door is on order, should be another two weeks before it's installed. But, in the mean time, I can get started moving in!

The building is DONE-

All that is left is the door- Which is on order, and should get installed next week sometime.

Now that the builder is done, I've got a LOT of work to do- Electrical, the approach pad/ramp... And getting the shelving and storage in place so I can start moving all the stuff in.

I'm really happy with how it's all turned out so far, AND, as an added bonus, I'm only a little bit over budget!

Thanks. It's going to be NICE to be able to keep my boats inside, especially the projects- so I can keep working on them regardless of the weather!

I started the electrical work today- I will have 100 amp 240v service, a HUGE upgrade from the old garage, where I had a couple of 120v outlets on a 15amp breaker that tripped any time I even thought about using more than one tool at a time, so bigger tools and things like compressors were out of the question.

Hopefully we'll have soem gravel in place in front of the building soon. I plan to pour an approach pad to the building soon, but in the mean time I'll probably use a temporary gravel ramp to get in the building, so I can get all the toys moved in!

Some real progress today...

First, I got some of the pegboard panels painted for the inside. My first choice in matrial would have been galvinized steel sheets, but they would have cost a LOT more. These are the pegboard sheets I found for $1 each, and $25 worth of paint will do them all.

But the big project for the day was to work on the electrical system. I got the 100 amp panel wired-

And, the moment of truth- Filp the breaker- and we've got LIGHT!-

I got many of the outlets wired, as well as the lighting in the back 4 bays-

It'll be a lot nicer to work out there now that I can see :)

I also picked up this cool pair of vintage Gas station enamel lights to use outside- I rewired them and added the galvinized hardware to hang them-

Once I get the back done, I can move some of the tools and things from my storage building- FINALLY. They've been packed up all too long!

The garage door people FINALLY got here-

And, I got all the lighting on the interior and exterior done-

including the second 'gas station' light.

And, Some work done on the inside. I've got the pegboard up in the back bay, and have started building some shelves for storage-

I should be able to start moving the toys in this week... Just in time, too- It's starting to get chilly!

GOODNESS, that looks awesome!
Hey, Since we are all watching, drooling, and spending your money with suggestions.
This one has to do with lighting. I see all of your florescent lights run lengthwise... from what I have read if you run a few width wise, there will be no shadows at any angle in the barn. Just my 2 cents worth, and your dollars, if you look it up and do it ? I hope your babies like their new home ?

Good suggestion- And actually something that I had already thought about. Those fixtures are plug-in, and when I wired it I just put an outlet at the location for each fixture, so there is an empty plug at each spot. I can easily double up the lighting without doing any more wiring...

The overhead lights are on different circuits, one for the front half and one for the rear, so I've got a lot of expansion room before having to worry about pulling too much juice.

When I built my garage so long ago I did the same with the lights. Only thing I did different was putting lights to shine on the paint I intended to spray on cars and such. It worked like a dream. When I turned them all on I had a thousand watts of florescent bulbs running. You could see everything. I had them banked and on separate switches so I didn't have to burn all of them. Each bay had their regular lights on a switch and the painting lights as I called them were on a switch and each bay was separate. I also had an electrical 20 amp outlet every 6 feet , four feet off the floor. I also had a freezer and a fridge on separate breakers.

Another thing I forgot to mention. My best friend worked at the phone company and they remodeled a section of the building and her got me a flatbed truck full of 8 foot long banks of four foot bulb fittings and box's of good bulbs.
