1961 Mercury 700 need help 7 years 2 months ago #134380

There is a product called Kroil (it creeps) that I've heard is great for freeing corroded parts. Any experience with this on these engines?

I talked to a older marine mechanic today and he told me not to attempt to remove the exhaust manifold cover or the cylinder block cover unless absolutely necessary. He said "Those bolts almost always break"

Here is a good thread on moving them if you have to. www.fiberglassics.com/forum/mercury-outpost/70244-ideas-for-removing-broken-bolts.html
