Know what you mean. I stuck pulling with an '05 Jeep Liberty.
No one knows how much I kick myself for trading my '67 XL convertible for a wood sided station wagon back in '72.
Family kept growing.

UPDATE:

While working on the inside somehow water came though the cover up and ruined the foam and wood I placed.
Because I want to do a real good job I've decided to re-do the inside. Ive pulled everything out and I'm currently preparing to re-do the floor. Haven't put many hours in due to my full time job as a student and my new side job in sales. Got to earn some money for that engine right?

Sorry to hear of the setback. Three steps forward, two steps back. You'll do a great job with that attitude.

Awesome project! I am a young and dumb one still, at 22, but I am also a full time student and started in Industrial Automation sales about a year and a half ago. Keep the photos coming, it's nice to see someone like me going through the major projects I will likely start experiencing soon

Seems like we're in the same boat, GympyHSHS! Do you have a project yet or are you looking for one? And I'm definitely going to keep posting progress pictures.

Thanks your your reply!

Not messy at all. Looks normal for replacing stringers and floors.

Floor is glued in! What a challenge. Decided to trim the edges to make it fit with close to no gap. Its drying now.. also put watertight inspection hatches in the floor just in case there will be water. Lots of work these last few

Again, not a woodworker but still very happy with how it turned out

Ive been thinking about changing the motor well, my old boat had a smaller well and more room on the sides for cleats or whatever. I know I'm going against everything that is "keeping it original" but I just like to design and tweak things. (the floor isnt original either).

PROS: more storage underneath, (better looking? Opiniated ofcourse)
CONS: time and money

Here are some basic drawings I made using Sketchup showing what I mean. I'll try to make a mould out of cardboard once I have time, and ofcourse post pictures of that aswell.

What do you guys think? Stay original or do what I want?

I'll give you the same advice I received many many years ago from an old boat guy. "IT'S YOUR BOAT! DO WHAT YOU WANT WITH IT!!"
No one here is going to critique your work, as a matter of fact they'll probably help you along the way.
Good luck.

More double component special boat paint. SO expensive, but SO worth! Its looking better by the layer. One layer on atm. Liking it so much like this that I don't even want to paint the teal on top anymore.. Its a thinking progress! Also got the boat seats in the mail the other day! Might lower them a bit. Overall very happy and motivated :) - still no news on an engine sadly, still saving up

Fantastic progress. Hope you have a fresh air supply in your paint booth. That paint/catalyst combo can literally be deadly.

I put the side parts of the tent up like 3 or 4 feet from the ground when I paint, I also use a mask. Its a horrible smell to work in, really makes you feel high. Thanks :)
