Hate to break the bad news to you but after you retire you'll need more than that handful. Retired in '04, had a honey do list that I thought would last 20 years. Got it done in 5. Thank the heavens for old boats to rebuild

Shake - I think I hear one of the boats saying "pick me first...I was here first, so back of the line new comer boats and wait your turn" Have fun "hunting" and restoring! Nice collection.

I agree - addicting hobby...I thought I would be satisfied with only one...and then you see that "next" one that somehow just has to come home...yikes. I need to learn control so I can actually finish and enjoy them with others!

Nadeem - Compliments to you and a VERY cool combination...love each as they stand alone, but together is VERY WOW! I am sure you send many guys to the Chiropractor with Whiplash as they turn their heads when you pass by or at the Launch or show. Nice Job putting that all together!

Nadeem,
That set up is ultra coolness!
Thanks for posting!!!

LeeMo,
That beast is an awesome piece of classic glass history and totally deserves the restore time you are spending.
Although a die-hard Mercury guy,...My heart went out to the amazingly unique design of these timelessly awesomely designed hulls by OMC.
I crawled all over one that is still (I think) dying in a local scrapyard - totally amazed at the unique design.
If I recall correctly,...The dash & helm looked similar to an early '60s Dodge-Plymouth-Chrysler dash & steering wheel.
Thanks for posting.

From Hot Rod magazine, September, 1967.

I posted this in the main forum but thought it should be included here because I think it's an awesome boat picture.

Also my wife's 1960 Glasspar Tacoma with original 1960 40-hp Johnson!!

She likes her "halfast" boat as it runs half as fast (28 mph WOT) and and she refuses to ride with me at 56 mph!!!

Joe, welcome to the forum. Post your questions in this area of the forum but go further down the list and start a new subject and title it something like "need some help" etc.
Not everyone looks at the awesome boat pictures tag...like reading a magazine, you first go to what interests you.

So this is before I had a classic boat, but here is me, in a boat, towing a house, towing a boyfriend's dead boat. Parking this train was hilarious and involved some James Bond maneuvers on the part of my support boater. Also, I was brand new to boating, though I had had a week of very intensive and very comprehensive lessons from my boat mentor.

This is after a festival I help organize. We built that 'house' (a 12'x20' party barge for live music, built on 'pontoons' made out of old dock floats).

Technically the second photo is also taken on a boat- it's the party barge we built on dock floats, being partied-upon for our festival- and in the background is a houseboat. In between is another homebuilt party barge made by a madman friend who turned two houseboat pontoons into a 20' barge in about 2 1/2 weeks more or less by himself. Also he's not really a carpenter. It was amazing.

Heres a link to the party barge overhead view. I can't figure out how to resize it to attach it here:

We built this in 8x8 sections in one city, transported it to the river, floated it across the river to the island where we were building, put it together as a sturdy platform, then put a roof on it. Raising the ridge beam while standing on the 'not a step' top steps of our ladders while everything swayed in the water was hilarious.

Hard to find anything better than a fun day on the water. The ultimate home built boat.

Hello, I'm pretty new to the forum. I've been collecting outboards for several years now and managed to have a number of boats in that time. I bought a somewhat unusual one this Easter and after a bit of work got it ready for the water. My daughter and I put it in the Independence Day boat parade on the lake by our cabin this summer. It is a 1959 Meyers 12WT. 12 foot aluminum runabout. I put my electric start 1959 Evinrude Fastwin Golden Jubilee on it as it is rated for 18hp. It's a neat little boat.

Welcome aboard, Boy are you going to fit right in this group. I'm a "johnyrude" fan myself but there are more Merc people here and a smidgeon of other motors. Lots of information and your input is always appreciated so feel free to open up and share.
That 12 footer is the perfect cottage runabout and a great way to start the little ones boating.

We took a family vacation to the U.P. this year. We did the glass bottom boat shipwreck tour. Thus was the second time for my wife and myself but the first time for our daughter. We all had a good time. They are in the process of building a new tour boat. It is a big aluminum catamaran that is supposed to be able to take more people out at a time. It is a HUGE boat compared to the boats currently in the fleet.
