I have 4. My first house was in the country. So in 75 I bought a used 3000 watt Generac. Used it many years. My daughter has it now for her back up power.

I have a ProTran unit wired into my main breaker at home...

And this week we'll be ordering a Generac GP7500E to plug into the ProTran unit. The ProTran unit does two circuits for our 220 well pump, then a circuit each for the water system, furnace, frig and freezer. Plus it has a couple 15 amp 110 outlets and a couple 20 amp 110 outlets for extension cords for whatever. The generator will surge to 9375 watts, so in theory we should be able to turn everything on at once.

Boy I spent a little time in Schoharie NY Sunday what a disaster area! Everything in the path of the Schoharie creek is damaged or destroyed. not good at all. Didnt have a camera but every house had a huge pile of their belongigns at the curb. Spent the afternoon setting up some tents and helping to gut the first floor of a house. Nasty stuff there.

Not a good picture but this is from the house I was at and its a good deal away from the creek and alot hire up had water at least waist high in the first floor. so I imagine that gas station was under water..

Looking through the pics in this thread. Glad everyone made it through OK.
I work with a Public Works Dept in a small town in central Maine. Irene was a tropical storm by the time she got here, but, we spent last week cutting and chipping trees. Lost power for 2 days, but, have the generator at the ready always. We live on a private road on the lake and we are not on the power company's priority list when power goes out.
All's well now and I got some OT out of it. Oh, and I picked up about 2 cord of nice hardwood for next year
