my baby is my fathers old 1954 12hp wizard.. powermatic.. he had owned is since new.. i dont think it has 100 hours on it..and has spent the last 50+ years sitting on a stand in their basement..i plan on going through it and getting it running again just to hear it and then put it with my KG7. 57 RD19 and 58 22hp scott atwater. decorating my game room..all 4 engines have been in the family since new..i dont see my children taking any interest in them. so i fear i'll be the last one in the family owning any of them..but until then.. i'll enjoy them my way..

He have one with 6 of those big muffler on it,the only thing is he have nothing I need I mean all of his engine is for short shaft and I need a long shaft and not for racing cause those pro are so small I don,t thing it will work on the Delmar .I talked to him this morning and ask him to if he can custom built (or put together ) for me 1 around 70-100 hp no new then 1960.he said he see what he can do for me but I might buy 1 of them racer just to look at.

Holy moley!!! The mother lode.

But for me an early 70's Chrysler factory 100ci race motor. With the factory stacks. If there is a graveyard near the lake you will wake the dead.

Holy mother of you know who!!! you are right that is a 100CI Chrysler racer!

Once you get what you want, hows about forwarding the contact info? There is one guy in my club that buys up lots of motors (and parts) and is all about making sure they get good homes, not so much about making bucks. If he gets overhead money and adds a little to the kitty for the next buy he is happy. Its his mission.

Re: What is the dream outboard for you? 9 years 10 months ago #103106

commando,

In MY case, it would be a PAIR of nice/early HOMELITE 55 OBs OR a matched pair of 1957 Johnson GOLDEN JAVELINS.
(I have a suitable hull for either, in the correct year model.)

yours, satx

my dream outboards would be a pair of like new 1958 elgin (west bend) skipper 35hp motors. they have the coolest fins on the cowling I have ever seen. they would look fantastic on our 1959 red fish 17ft hardtop. john

Yes. He is a good friend and has an awesome collection.
A year or so ago one of his guests posted a video tour through the collection. Awesome goodies indeed.

His wife recently passed away, leaving him broken hearted, having a very difficult time emotionally.

I think I'd also like to have a pair of the 55hp Homelites with the "jetson" fins. Would look great wih the club mariner. Of course, I'd also like a 30 year parts supply for them too!!

That is sad for him, my condolences. Most things loose there fun after such a loss, I hope better days will be ahead for him.
One favorite motor? C'mon! I have at least three holy grail motors...
He has a few of my fav's hard to come by too expensive for me motors in the pictures, it's the 650 XS basiclly half of a Twister. I sold my restored G3 (1100 powered) to a gal in FL but always fantasizes about a 650 XS on it.
The other motor is that 1250BP I have a minty 69 Switzer Shooting star made for that motor best I did was a 1500 XS with a SSM lower. Bob Switzer shot me a copy of a Merc "Boathouse News" that had the Star with a BP on it that they tested back in 68 , 83 mph.
The last fav is an early 60's white Merc 20 or 25 hp kicker, a few different models and years are very similar in apearence, I love the looks of those with the recessed face plate and swept back cowl. I think there is one year with that look and does not have that problematic shift mechanism, looking......

That's EXACTLY what I meant. I can still remember the day in my youth on Lake Hopatcong in NJ when I was cruising along at about 32 when two of those black beauties went past me like I was trolling. :woohoo:
