Hey Frank. Motor is an '86 90hp Evinrude tweaked a lil bit. 030 overbore, 140 carbs, reed kit, etc.

Not a "race motor" by any means but she runs purty strong. Bolted to a '71 Glastron V153 btw.

Joe:
Good to meet 'ya..
I had previously checked out your website and
I had noticed you listed as being dealers for
my Uncle Bobby's Avenger boats. It's always
great to find folks that have a long history
in the boat business.
Frank is going thru his set-up very systematically
and taking it one step at a time and I am sure
with all the advise and help he is getting he will
soon have his boat "purrforming" like it should.
Regards,
Danny Leger

Hi Danny,
I do not believe we have ever met, but we did sell Bob Brown's The Avenger Boats for about 20 years. What a first class person to do business with!
I have studied Frank's picture several times, but in the end, I cannot tell what the true engine height is. I do agree that if it is at 1" above, that raising the motor should not help.

My 1350 when purchased had a whale tail on it. I detested the look of it but left it on the motor when I tried it on RESURRECTION. There was so much pressure on the cavitation plate it actually broke the caviation plate off on both sides where the stern two bolts had been drilled. Luckily the forward two bolts did not give and I was able to retrieve the two broken pieces off the whale tail when I removed it and put in the recycle bin. When I had the motor gone through by Tim Calmes a couple years ago he had those pieces welded back onto the cavitation plate. The welder did a beautiful job. I won't run them for the simple reason they look like crap on a motor and were an add on to fix a problem that shouldn't exist in a properly set up boat in the first place.

I would agree with just one simple caveat if I could in the interest of keeping the peace.

The Bob's 'True Tracker' would be the exception to the rule in that these boats were never intended to run with the HP that they are so they could never be run safely or properly with out this modification.

I like that "purrforming" quote Danny. That's what I need, better purrformance!

Have a great weekend.

Frank- Until I hit the lottery and send you a dozen props to test, the going will be slow, but we will be here for you until your 'Cat purrs to your satisfaction. Also, my .03 on fins is they help underpowered boats, but are a bandaid for the root cause- lack of horsepower. Any properly powered boat should never need one. Setup is the key, but like Frank is discovering, the trial and testing is a pain, sometimes.

LOL Kerry! Yeah, you or me win the lottery, buy props! Capital idea.

I got a 3 blade 17P coming, should be here early next week, maybe that's the one. I hope so, but if not, this is a solvable puzzle. It's just a cash thing.

Busy day. Just when the rain finally broke so I could go out and do some stuff with the boat and motor, our master bath sink faucet broke. So off to Home Depot, then later the local hardware store, but have a completely new set up, works great. I think it will be a nicer morning tomorrow and I can get out early to do these tasks.

Enjoy the weekend!
