TOPIC: Working on Bearcat for the pontoon

Thanks on the cabin comments. We just opened it up Memorial week. Everytrhing seemed to survied the winter.

Tested the Bearcat today.
Sad to say. Not pumping.
Something is awry.
Will investigate

Pulled lower.
Checked the impeller. It is OK.
Didn't find the woodruff key!!! No wonder it wasn't pumping.
Working on that. Thought it was there when I installed it.
In the mean time I took the thermostat a part. What a mistake.
Lots of springs and other stuff flying out. Need 4 hands and two feet to get it back together.
Help! Any tips?

You got the thermostat apart and didn't break a bolt off? That in itself is amazing. Don't know what tips I could give but I did it with just two hands. It may have taken 2 or 3 tries but I got it!

Nope! The 4 bolts came out very nicely.
Not much corrosion (SP)on this motor.
Going to the cabin for a few days. I will tackle it when I get back.
Using a standby pontoon right now.

Dave, enjoy your stay at the cabin and I hope after a few days away you'll pop the thermostat back together with no problem.

We enjoyed our stay at the cabin.
Now it is too hot to work on the Bearcat.
I'm using my daughter's pontoon for back up.
